What we are about...

This is a chronicle of renovations of our home, an historic inn. It is our goal to work toward the historic preservation and careful renovation of this much loved landmark in rural southern Ohio.

Features

Our home is a 5300 square foot three story brick structure,

with 12 bedrooms, two large parlors, a grand three story staircase;

This three story winding staircase made of beautiful tiger maple railing and banisters with a detailed newel post at it's base, grace a large foyer with two (front and back) massive doorways.

 This amazing staircase is one reason we immediately fell in love with this house.

The house is situated on 2 acres in a beautiful farmland setting.

Also, private campsite, wooded trail and water frontage to Solomon's Run.

"Wind-door"

After much research we were unable to find the name of this unusual convertible window feature so we call them “win-doors”. Original to the structure, and hidden for decades behind insulation and plaster, we uncovered two of them and they are in use today. The lower doors swing open and the large window opens up to become a door to the porch and balcony from bedroom and parlor. The third one is above the front porch on the as of yet un-renovated front balcony.

The front porch is constructed out of massive Italian marble slaps that were, so the story goes, shipped and then pulled by horse drawn carriage into the wilderness that was Brown County .
